Prof. Justin Cooper-White

Professor Justin Cooper-White is an internationally recognised leader in the application of engineering principles to solve complex biological problems. He currently serves as the Head of School and Professor of Bioengineering in the School of Chemical Engineering at The University of Queensland (UQ). In addition, he holds and has held several prominent leadership roles, including Affiliate Professor, Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN), Research Director, Herston Biofabrication Institute (a UQ and MNHHS partnership), Inaugural Director, Australian National Fabrication Facility – Queensland Node.

Professor Cooper-White has previously served as President of both the Australasian Society for Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering and the Australian Society of Rheology. He was also a CSIRO Office of the Chief Executive (OCE) Science Leader.

His international academic engagements include Visiting Professorships at ETH Zurich (2007) and Politecnico di Milano (2012–2013). He is the Australian representative and Past President of the Asian Biomaterials Federation, and an elected Fellow of several prestigious organisations, including International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Science and Engineering (IUSBE), Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS), Queensland Academy of Arts and Sciences (Past Vice President).
