A/Prof. Larisa Haupt

  • Future Workforce Co-lead
  • Queensland University of Technology

Larisa leads a multidisciplinary group in the School of Biomedical Sciences, QUT, Brisbane, Australia. Her research interests combine molecular genetics and cell biological disciplines and 2D/3D stem cell models to unravel the complex microenvironmental interactions controlling human neurogenesis and its dysregulation. This work aims to direct cells for successful integration and repair of compromised neural networks to develop personalised treatment-ready solutions of neural lineage specification in brain injury and neurodegenerative disorders.

She is actively involved in these disciplines through leadership as the Functional Genomics Domain Leader within QUT’s Centre for Genomics and Personalised Health and her memberships in the Human Genetics Society of Australasia (Queensland Branch Committee) and the Matrix Biology Society of Australia and New Zealand (Executive Member – Treasurer). In addition, Larisa is on the Editorial boards of several journals within these disciplines and is an active supervisor and mentor where she provides significant research and communication training.
