It’s been an exciting third quarter for the SMART CRC

Read our latest update

With a full team now in place, we’re excited about the future and would love to introduce our partners and associates to the members of the SMART CRC.

  • As Chief Operating Officer, Sarah Costanzo translates the SMART CRC’s strategic direction into action, overseeing day‑to‑day operations while working closely with partners and associates to ensure the Centre delivers impact across the regenerative therapies ecosystem.
  • Our Chief Development Officer, Isaac Coonan, is focused on continually scanning and mapping the capabilities of potential collaborators for the Centre, while also overseeing the Centre’s national engagement strategy. In addition, Isaac also supports the CRC project team with expertise in IP and commercialisation across projects.
  • Our sector-wide workforce efforts have taken a leap forward with the appointment of Dr Rachael Pitt as our new Head of Workforce Development. Rachael is already helping align national skills, training pathways and capability-building across our partnerships.
  • We have also welcomed Dr Timothy Evans our new Head of Research Development, who will shape and deliver our research strategy, building a strong 10-year pipeline of industry-led collaborative research projects across our national partner network.
  • Our new Head of Communications, Anna Edwards will lead our strategic communications agenda, supporting collaborative research partnerships and positioning them as a driver of innovation and national capability.
  • Our project development function is also in full stride and our Senior Project Managers Dr Cassi Styke and Dr Anna Gemmell are working closely with partners to advance a strong pipeline of high impact projects.
  • Last, but certainly not least, SMART CRC Coordinator Clare Irvine is the connective force behind our work, enabling our activities and collaborations by bringing together people, processes and shared goals.

High‑impact collaborations now open

We’re launching our new Expressions of Interest (EOI) program to connect partners and associates to collaborate on targeted projects and challenges.

Our first EOI, led by EBRP Australia, focuses on tackling pruritus (itch) in Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), one of the condition’s most debilitating symptoms.

Contact us if you have a project you would like to open up to our partners and associates for collaboration; projects@smartcrc.com.au
