The future of Australian regenerative medicine is in safe hands 🧬
You can build world-class manufacturing facilities, but you can’t run them without world-class talent.
This week, the SMART CRC team was in Adelaide to support the EMBL Australia PhD Course, an elite training program for the country’s brightest rising scientists. Our CEO Prof. Simon Cool, Chair of the Board Dr. Leanna Read, Research Director Prof. Allison Cowin, and Senior Program Manager Dr. Cassi Styke attended as a sponsor for the event, engaging directly with the PhD candidates who will drive the next wave of breakthroughs in our sector.
Our message to the students was clear: The ecosystem we are building needs you – not just at the bench, but across research, clinical translation, manufacturing, and commercialisation. To thrive in this rapidly growing, globally competitive sector, upskilling for industry needs and understanding the business of science, regulatory frameworks, and advanced manufacturing are essential.
Thank you so much to the team at EMBL Australia for hosting such a vital program, and a special thank you to Prof. Simon Barry (University of Adelaide) and Dr Justin Coombs (AusHealth) for representing the SMART CRC with exceptionally engaging sessions. We are proud to support the next generation.
